- 1 large pre-baked pizza crust store-bought or homemade
- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 1 oz packet taco seasoning
- 2/3 cup water
- 1 cup refried beans optional, as a base layer
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese or cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 large tomato diced
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives optional
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions optional
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- Salsa or taco sauce for drizzling
Prepare the taco meat:
In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat, then add the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens. Set aside.
Assemble the pizza:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Place the pre-baked pizza crust on a baking sheet or pizza pan. Spread an even layer of refried beans (if using) on the crust. Spoon the taco meat mixture evenly over the top.
Add cheese:
Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the taco meat layer.
Bake the pizza:
Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Add fresh toppings:
Remove the pizza from the oven and top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, black olives, and green onions.
Garnish and serve:
Drizzle with sour cream and salsa or taco sauce. Slice and serve immediately.
- Customize toppings to your taste! Try adding diced avocados, jalapeños, or crushed tortilla chips for added crunch.
- You can use a homemade pizza crust if desired. Pre-bake it before adding toppings for the best texture.
- Leftover taco meat works perfectly for this recipe.
- Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, and reheat in the oven or toaster oven for best results.
