Ingredients

  • 1 package of phyllo dough
  • 1 cup of chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup of chopped pistachios
  • 1 cup of melted butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1/2 cup of cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking dish by greasing it with melted butter to prevent sticking.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, create a sweet syrup by combining melted butter, sugar, water, honey, and cinnamon until the sugar completely dissolves.
  • Begin layering the phyllo dough sheets in the baking dish, brushing each sheet with the prepared sweet syrup to add moisture and flavor.
  • Sprinkle a generous amount of the chocolate and nut filling mixture over every few layers to introduce a rich cocoa and crunchy texture to the baklava.
  • Continue the layering process with phyllo sheets, sweet syrup, and the chocolate-nut mixture until you have used up all the ingredients.
  • Prior to baking, carefully cut the assembled baklava into diamond or square shapes to make it easier to serve later. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until the baklava turns a beautiful golden brown and releases a delightful aroma.
